The Klamath Falls Police Department is currently accepting volunteer Reserve Officer Applications for the 2015 Reserve Academy that will begin on January 3, 2015 and conclude in June of 2015.  

Qualified applicants are required to be a United States Citizen or be able to obtain citizenship within 18 months of being hired and at least 21 years of age.  Applicants must possess a valid Oregon Driver’s License and a High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Applications are accepted throughout the year and kept on file.  This year’s application deadline will be December 1, 2014.  Selected applicants are invited to attend interviews prior to each Reserve Academy.  Remaining applications are discarded at the end of each year. 

Applicants who successfully complete an oral interview, written exam, extensive background investigation and psychological examination will be invited to attend the Reserve Academy.  Reserve Officers will be sworn into the program after successful completion of the academy. 

The police department provides uniforms for Reserve Officers.  However, Reserve Officers are expected to provide much of their own equipment (firearm, handcuffs, belt, boots, etc.)    

Applications can be obtained and returned at the Klamath Falls Police Department located at 2501 Shasta Way, Klamath Falls, Oregon 97601.  Applications may also be obtained by going to Application-_Volunteer.doc and printing the application from this Website. The application must be returned to the Klamath Falls Police Department upon completion.  Questions about the program should be directed to the Reserve Coordinator at 541-883-5336.


The City of Klamath Falls is located in the high desert of south central Oregon about 20 miles north of the California border. Our department serves a population of 20,000 within the city limits which is part of the Urban Growth Boundary which totals 45,000 in population. The department is comprised of 36 sworn officers, 4 clerical and support personnel, an evidence technician, 11 reserve officers, 11 police explorers, and 5 Volunteers in Police Service. The City encompasses 20 square miles and is home to Oregon Institute of Technology.

The Klamath Falls Police Department operates with a philosophy of community policing coupled with heightened customer service. We strive to meet the needs of residents and visitors alike and take pride in our professionalism. It is our desire that we do more than our part to make the City of Klamath Falls and surrounding suburban area a great place to live, raise children, work, and recreate.
