The Detective Division is primarily responsible for investigating crimes that require resources beyond the limitations of the patrol division.  Generally, these crimes include incidents and individuals that pose the greatest threat to our community.  These types of crimes typically include, but are not limited to; homicide, robbery, major assaults, child abuse, sex crimes, elder abuse, burglaries, financial crimes, computer crimes, major thefts or any other crime that may require substantial investigation.

The Klamath Falls Police Department Detective Division is also a primary member of the Klamath County Major Crime Team.  The Major Crime Team is comprised of members from the Klamath Falls Police Department, the Oregon State Police, the Klamath County District Attorney’s Office and Klamath County Parole and Probation.  The Major Crime Team is responsible for collectively investigating significant criminal events county wide that due to their complexity cannot be effectively processed by each agency individually.  The most common incidents that the Major Crime Team investigates are homicides.  However, the team may be activated for other significant investigations as needed.
